Septic Systems

Septic Systems

Septic systems protect human health and the environment by safely recycling wastewater back into the natural environment. Septic systems treat wastewater as well as, or better than, municipal treatment systems at a reasonable cost when properly designed, installed, operated, and maintained.

Stevens County requires a septic system permit prior to installation of a new or replacement septic system. A permit application and list of licensed businesses approved to design, install and pump septic systems is available at our office or click below to choose permit forms and license list. The design must be submitted to the Environmental Services Office for approval, after which a permit will be issued for installation. Our office also needs to conduct an inspection during installation to insure system is constructed as design.
