Getting a Marriage License
Applying For a Marriage License and Associated Fees
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- There is no waiting period for the marriage license. However, applicants requesting a name change that have a felony conviction on or after August 1, 2000 are subject to a 30-day waiting period. Additional paperwork will be required.
- Your Marriage License will be valid for a period of 6 months and is only valid in the State of Minnesota. If it expires, you will need to reapply and pay the fee again.
- You do not need to be married in the Minnesota County from which you obtained your license.
Marriage License Application Process
