CARES Act Grant Applications

STEVENS County CARES

Business Relief Grant Application

Program Description for Applicants

The Federal CARES Act made monies available to the State of Minnesota.   These federal monies were apportioned out into roughly $841 million dollars to be spent in outstate Minnesota for the purposes of responding to the CoVID-19 Pandemic.

The County Board can determine how to spend these funds under guidance from the state and federal agencies.  It was encouraged to spend at lest 10% on business relief.  The initial budget the Stevens County board established, spends about 40% of the roughly $1.2 million it received.   This money will be available to both for profit entities and nonprofit organizations.

If the applicant meets the eligibility guidelines, the applicant can ask for help with utilities, rent, insurance, PPE, unemployment, payroll expenses, items needed to respond to executive orders. and other costs arising out of business interruption experienced between March 1, 2020 and December 1, 2020.  Application deadline is October 23, 2020 at 4:00 pm.   This is NOT an all-inclusive list.  Please see full application and call with questions.

Applicants are asked to state full need in application, even if in excess or maximum grant dollars state in application.  This is a county wide program, for businesses and non-profits in Stevens County.  This fund may have additional dollars rolled into business relief from other local government units that choose to combine funds with the county program.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Application

PPE Program Description for Applicants

The Federal CARES Act made monies available to the State of Minnesota.   These federal monies were apportioned out into roughly $841 million dollars to be spent in out-state Minnesota for the purposes of responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The County Board can determine how to spend these funds under guidance from the state and federal agencies.  The County has set aside a portion of these funds (roughly $20,000) for businesses, governmental units, and non-profits to provide PPE and social distance compliance equipment.  The funds are limited, but we are looking forward to assisting as many businesses as possible.

The applicant can ask for help with any PPE items purchased to be in compliance with state or federal guidelines and items needed to respond to executive orders. The expenses must have been incurred between March 1, 2020 and December 1, 2020.  Application deadline is October 31, 2020 at 4:00 pm.  Please complete attached expense report and attach receipts.  This is a reimbursement program only.  The committee will use funds to grant as much of the request from each applicant as possible.

Applications are due by 4 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2020 to rebeccayoung@co.stevens.mn.us. Awards will be paid out in the first two weeks in November.
