Notice of Public Sale of Tax-Forfeited Lands
Notice is hereby given, that the parcel described below shall be sold to the highest bidder at public sale. The sale will be governed by the provisions of Minn. Stat. § 282.01 and by the motion of the Stevens County Board of Commissioners authorizing such sale.
M.S. 282.01 provides for the appraisal, and sale of land becoming the property of the State of Minnesota for nonpayment of real property taxes. The parcel listed below was forfeited to the State for nonpayment of homestead or non-homestead taxes. The parcel was released by the municipalities for public sale.
Notice of sale will be published once a week for two consecutive weeks, with the last publication not less than 10 days before the sale of tax-forfeited land by public auction. In addition, notice of sale will be mailed to all owners of land adjoining each parcel to be sold. All parcels listed are non-waterfront land.

The parcels of tax-forfeited lands listed above are classified as non-conservation lands, that the basic sale prices are stated above, and are on file with the clerk of the County Board, be approved and authorization for a public sale of this land be granted, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 282.01; that the sale is scheduled for 10:00 o’clock, Monday, August 31, 2020 by the Stevens County Auditor-Treasurer at the Stevens County Courthouse, 400 Colorado Avenue, Morris, Minnesota in the Commissioner’s Board Room for not less than the basic sale price; and that all sales shall be full payment. Full payment is defined as in cash or check for the full amount of the sale price plus 3% surcharge for state assurance, $25 for the state deed fee, a deed recording fee of $46, and the state deed tax equal to the greater of $1.65 or .33% of the final sale price. The balance of any special assessments that were levied before forfeiture and canceled at forfeiture are not included in the basic sale price and may be reassessed by the municipality. These special assessments are shown on the list of tax-forfeited land under the column entitled “Assessments Before Forfeiture.”
